The Companion Series
Veterinary Disclaimer
Educational purposes only
The Senior Dog Companion and all accompanying materials — including the Core Guide, Golden Years Tracker, Vet Visit Playbook, Home Comfort Checklist, and The Comfort Kitchen — are provided for general educational and informational purposes only. They are not veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and they are not a substitute for the judgment of a licensed veterinarian who has examined your dog.
No doses, no medication guidance — ever
Our materials never provide medication doses, never recommend specific drugs or supplements, and never suggest giving a dog any human medication. Many human medications — including common pain relievers such as ibuprofen — can be dangerous or fatal to dogs. Any question about medication, dosing, supplements, or diet changes belongs exclusively to your veterinarian.
Not a diagnostic instrument
Nothing in our materials can determine your dog’s health status. Descriptions of age-related conditions are education about what those conditions are, not tools for identifying them in your dog. Observation logs and checklists support noticing and preparation for professional conversations — never replacement of them. The quality-of-life tools referenced in our materials (including the Villalobos HHHHHMM scale) are designed to structure conversations with a veterinarian, not to substitute for one.
Always consult your veterinarian
Never disregard veterinary advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in these materials. If your dog’s behavior, appetite, drinking, mobility, or comfort changes in a way that concerns you, contact your veterinarian — that instinct is usually right. References to conditions, tests, treatments, programs, or organizations are for education only and are not endorsements.
Emergencies
If you think your dog may be experiencing an emergency, contact your veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary clinic immediately. Do not wait, and do not search the internet first.
No veterinarian–client–patient relationship
Purchasing or using our materials does not create a veterinarian–client–patient relationship or any other professional relationship between you and The Companion Series or its creators. None of our materials are written by, or reviewed as the practice of, veterinary medicine.
Assumption of responsibility
By using these materials you agree that decisions about your dog’s care are yours and your veterinarian’s, and that The Companion Series is not liable for actions taken or not taken based on educational content.
